Saving documents

To save changes made to a document, click the Save document Button image button of the File toolbar The 'File' toolbar , or choose the File | Save menu command, or press F2 or CtrlS.

To save the active document to a file with a different name or format, click the Save document as... Button image button of the File toolbar The 'File' toolbar , or choose the File | Save As... menu command, or press F12. This would display the "Save Document As" dialog:

The 'Save Document As' dialog

By default, this dialog automatically opens the home folder of the active document. But if the "'Save As' dialog offers to save in same folder as the original document" option is unchecked on the Load/Save tab of the "Tools | Options..." dialog, the "Save Document As" dialog initially opens the folder where you last created a document.

In the "Save Document As" dialog, you can choose where to save your document to. It can be any folder on your disk, or one of the folders where you recently saved documents to:

You can also optionally choose a new filename and format for the document:

The "Save document as" command usually creates a new file for the active document. If the old file of the active document is not needed, you can check the "Move file" box, and Atlantis would automatically delete the old file after creating a new one:

Moving document file

The "Move file" option is unavailable if the active document does not have a file created yet, or the file cannot be moved.

You can use the File | Save As... command to change the password of an encrypted document. Just resave the encrypted document onto itself with same name. Atlantis will prompt you to choose a new password for the document.

The File | Save Special | Save Copy As... menu command is similar to the File | Save As... command. It also saves the active document to a new file. But unlike the Save As command, the Save Copy As does not change the file associated with the active document. The active document remains linked to its current file. So what the Save Copy As command does is export the active document to another file.

Tip:

  • Documents with unsaved changes display on the Document Bar in red:

To save changes to a modified document, you can simply double-click its button on the Document Bar.
