Running Atlantis on Linux/MacOS
Atlantis Word Processor is a native Windows application. But it can be run on Linux and MacOS systems via WineHQ or similar compatibility layers.
When running Atlantis via WineHQ, you may experience minor visual flaws in the Atlantis GUI caused by the differences in system fonts and implementation of the UI controls on Windows and Linux systems. There may also be a few other issues that can be resolved by adjusting the configuration of Atlantis or WineHQ:
- If Atlantis displays black solid-filled rectangles in the document window instead of actual document contents, you may need to switch from the DirectWrite-based text rendering engine in Atlantis to the GDI-based one (change the corresponding option on the "Accessibility" tab of the "Tools | Options..." dialog of Atlantis).
- Multiple features of Atlantis like "Save as eBook" and "Save as PDF" that deal with font embedding require access to actual font files in your system. You may need to copy the TrueType/OpenType font files that you plan to use in Atlantis to the following folder on your Linux system:
~/.wine/drive_c/windows/Fonts
If you have encountered other issues when running Atlantis on Linux, please let us know. They may be resolvable.
