Release notes - version 5.0.5
Version 5.0.5

This version is a minor release adding support for Unicode supplementary characters with code points above U+FFFF. These characters include emojis, historic scripts, musical notation, and rare ideographs.

You can now insert supplementary characters through the "Insert | Symbol..." dialog. You can also assign a hot key to individual supplementary characters, add them to the "Favorite symbols" or to the Clip Library:

You can use supplementary characters as bullets in automatic lists:

or as note reference marks:

Atlantis now also supports multicolor glyphs that can be found in modern fonts with emojis, like "Segoe UI Emoji" or "Noto Color Emoji":

Multicolor character glyphs

Note that the multicolor glyph display is possible only with the DirectWrite text rendering mode selected within the Accessibility settings of Atlantis. The character also has to be formatted with the "Auto" font color. If you switch to the GDI text rendering mode or apply a non-Auto font color to characters with multicolor glyphs, they will display as ordinary monochrome character glyphs. For example, here is how the characters with multicolor glyphs from the above screenshot will display if formatted with red font color:

In Windows 10 and higher, you can insert emojis to a document in Atlantis by pressing the Windows Key + Period (.) or Windows Key + Semicolon (;):

An alternative way to insert supplementary characters into a document in Atlantis is the Alt+X mode. Just type the hexadecimal number (the code point) of the required supplementary character (for example, 1F4AB), press Alt+X, and Atlantis will automatically replace the number with the actual character.
