Re: Question about loading pictures into a document
Interesting. Glad I asked. I have noticed large file sizes with my rtf files, due to all the embedded pics. But also that the file size is extremely reduced when saving as a pdf, which is the eventual destination file format for book publishing. Same deal with epub save. File sizes are very ...

Re: Include power typing cache file in backup routine
It probably got damaged from a system crash, which I have had periodically, always related to the moving of pictures within a document prior to the "Power word" related crashes. It's probably sensitive to corruption because it's always loaded in memory and frequently writing to cache That cache file ...

Question about loading pictures into a document
I recently read that pictures should always be inserted into Word documents by using File|Insert|Insert Picture, rather than just copy and pasting into the document (what I always do). Is there an advantage to doing that in Atlantis too? And could you explain why, if so?

Re: Weird tab problem with footnote creation
It's resolved. It was obeying the tab setting on the ruler at the top of the document. I didn't remember seeing the footnote every doing that before. thanks for your time.

Re: Weird tab problem with footnote creation
That would affect the footnotes? These footnote tabs can't be deleted either. I just get the popup warning about having to delete the footnote number in the body of the paragraph to delete the footnote. It's like it's some kind of footnote tab setting somewhere.

Weird tab problem with footnote creation
I pulled up an old document I haven't worked on in a while and started adding footnotes, but they are adding with a half inch margin for some reason. All the old footnotes have no margin, beginning at the left side of the page,. I didn't see a setting where I can change the tab of the footnotes and ...

Larger, better interface for creating book index
I just spent 2 months creating the index for my book, partly because of the tiny font in the index creation tool on the control board, Every other panel of the control board is usable except for for this one, primarily due to the tiny font size. Plus, the hot key feature does not seem to work with ...

Include power typing cache file in backup routine
An Atlantis crash was traced to the "English (American).cache" file in the spellcheck folder having become corrupted and unusable. This file contains all the power typing words that appear in a dropdown as you type, saving you from oodles of typing. I am now starting over building up that list of ...

Re: Annoying new feaures in Control board header panel
I always promote/demote headings via drag and drop. I'm fairly oblivious to the commands at the bottom, so I'll try them. There is stuff there that I didn't know in that help file secion, so I will read through that. Thanks for pointing it out.

Annoying new feaures in Control board header panel
I use the header panel in the control board to navigate my 500+ page book, and noticed that with version 5.x there is a lot of new behaviors that are less than productive. It's making me want to revert back to the free version because this was the feature that attracted me to the software in the ...

Is Atlantis format palette feature compatible with Word character styles?
The Format palette is the only way Atlantis can do character level styling, and I just read that Epubs prefer all inline text formatting to be done with styles. Do you know if it uses the same rtf specification as MS Word?

Re: Track changes
This is what I do: save every day's document under <filename>A1, <filename>A2, <filename>A3, up to A20, then B1 - B20, etc.
If there's an issue that comes up about changes, then use the View side-by-side feature with 2 latest versions to resolve.
It's better than nothing.

Re: Weird bug with MS Word when I open new file based on template
Yea, that wasn't clear at all. I did reproduce the error in Noetpad, so I see what you're talking about now. Otherwise I'd want my money back!... (just kidding. Atlantis is still my favorite WP app. :-)).

Re: Weird bug with MS Word when I open new file based on template
The MS Word issue came back after a few more tries. So I selected the classic Load/Save dialogs in tools|options and even with preview enabled, I didn't have the MS Word issue. I'm sticking with the classic dialogs for now.

Re: Weird bug with MS Word when I open new file based on template
Yes, I am using the new style Open/Save dialogs of Atlantis and DID have the preview (details) pane selected to view. When I de-selected that pane the problem went away. The first 'problem encountered" dialog was because it couldn't save a file, if that helps in your debugging..

New read-omly feasture in Document projects
I noticed that when I right click on one of the document headings in the toolbar document project object, the new feature "read-only" is available. This is a feature I requested so I was excited to try it out, only to find that the file can still be edited. My request was the document to be read ...

Re: intermittent, undeletable 0.5" tab in footnotes
Your documents do not use any template. They were created from a certain template. If you delete all your document templates, this would have absolutely no effect on any of your existing documents. I can only reiterate that the document templates in Atlantis do not work in the way you think. You are ...
