How to prevent text such as "10/16" from displaying as a fraction by default

Post by Ryan1 »

When I enter the following text in an RTF document in AWP "10/16" it automatically displays as a fraction (screenshot below) instead of as it appears here in this sentence.

Is there some setting I can set to prevent similar entries from appearing as a fraction and have them appear as in the previous sentence by default?

Sorry, I looked for a setting, including in the Spell Checker, but could not figure out how to do this. It's even possible I set it to do this at one time myself in the past, but I don't remember doing it.

Thanks for your help!

Interesting phenomenon. I could not reproduce it.

Atlantis has an option (Tools > Autocorrect Options) to produce fractions from things like 7/8 or 2/3. But I could not get it to work for numbers greater than a single digit.

Does it do this for other fractions like 11/13 or 10/19?

You can create a real fraction by superscripting and subscripting the numbers 10 and 16, respectively, and then inserting a / that you have copied from a real fraction like 7/8.

But I do not know how you could have made Atlantis automatically replace every instance of 10/16 with the real fraction. I tried and could not do it.

To state the obvious, and I know you have probably done this, make sure that the option to create real fractions is unchecked, and see if anything changes.

That is the answer! I forgot that option and overlooked it.

When I have it checked even two digit numbers such as 56/98 produce fractions. In fact it produces fractions with any number of digit numbers. But when I uncheck it, nothing produces a fraction (unless I do it manually with super/subscripts).

Thanks for the reminder. It works! :D

In my case, Atlantis is completely up to date at version 4.4.6.4.

I should have included that information. Sorry.

Windows (version 11) reports that my system is up to date. I checked the fractions issue again just now. Single-digit numbers like 7/8 will convert to a real fraction. But something like 11/17 will not.

Have not updated in a while. I'm using v4.1.4.7.

This is a quite old version. The "Format fractions ..." option of the AutoCorrect in more recent versions of Atlantis applies only to single digit fractions.
