Unicode in Atlantis
something seems to have dropped out of my mind - or out of Atlantis? I have been using this editor for ages and since I type on a french keyboard, I got used to enter the ASCII or Unicode when I wrote e.g. a German text where the "ß" character can be achieved by ALT+0223 etc.
This is no longer working in the new version and there has to be a way to make Atlantis adopt this approach.
How to proceed?

Is the Num Lock key on when you type the character code?

this is the solution: the number lock was NOT on and when I activate it, Atlantis works properly. This must be a new feature, since this requirement exists only for Atlantis (if I type this note directly into my firebird browser, I can compose special characters in the described way with or without the num lock and so does workpad).
Thank you for your advice.

Alt+0252 and Alt+00252 insert the same character in your case because both the Western European ANSI codepage and Unicode have the same character under the code 252. But in some cases Alt+0NNN and Alt+00NNN insert different characters. Especially when the default ANSI codepage of Windows is other than "Western European".
Atlantis allows to assign the Alt+NumPad_key hot keys to its commands. For example, Alt+5 (NumPad) centers the active document window. Such hot keys work only when the Num Lock key is off. When the Num Lock is on, you can type character codes. When it is off, you can press the corresponding Atlantis hot keys.krautwaschl wrote:this requirement exists only for Atlantis
By the way, MS Word also requires the Num Lock to be toggled on when you type character codes. This is because MS Word also supports the Alt+NumPad_key hot keys.
Does this thread mean that Atlantis now supports Unicode? That would be great news for me. I do some ESOL work and would love to be able to have English on one side and Punjabi or Hindi on the other without having to use OpenOffice or MSO Word 2007. Atlantis loads so much faster and is much simpler to work with, so if it supports Unicode fully now, that would really make my day.
