Atlantis and two displays

Post by Polarigel »

Hello!

There are a few problems when using Atlantis on a secondary display:

1. Most important: The Power Type dialogue always opens on the primary display, where it is useless.

2. All other dialogue (Save, Open etc.) open on the primary display too.

3. It is not possible to move the Atlantis Window by using the "Move" command in the context menu of the task bar icon. That's necessary to move the Window back to the primary screen when the secondary display is not in use. The "Move"-command from Atlantis' title bars context menu works fine.

4. Possible improvement: Add a "Reset Windows position" command to the task bar icons context menu. Some media player (for example Zoom Player). This command returns the program window back to the primary screen.

1 and 2. Please download the following ZIP file:

{This file is not available for download anymore.
The functionality mentioned above is available in the standard version of Atlantis.}

and unpack the contained file to the home folder of Atlantis (by default, to "C:\Program Files\Atlantis\"). You should close all the running copies of Atlantis (if any) before unpacking.
Run Atlantis on your secondary monitor. Do the child windows of Atlantis display correctly?

3. I cannot say why the "Move" command of the Windows taskbar does not work correctly on your system. In any case, this command is performed by Windows, not by Atlantis.

4. Sorry, but Atlantis is not supposed to add new commands to these system menus.

That was immediate support! Thank you very much. :-)

1 and 2.: The child windows display correctly on the secondary monitor now. Is this version stable enough for daily use?

3.: I did some further testing. When using the keyboard shortcuts ALT-Space-r to restore and then ALT-space-m, I can move the Atlantis main window by using the arrow keys. When I try the same thing by using the Move-command from the context menu of Atlantis' task bar icon, it doesnt.

Move a window from the context menu works with all the software I tested. Atlantis is the only one that doesn't obey to that command. So I think it is a problem of Atlantis, and not of my system.

On the other side- I was just looking for a way to move Atlantis' back to the primary monitor, when the secondary is off. For that I am satisfied with the keyboard-shortcuts ALT-Space-r and ALT-space-m.
