Just a question for the developers: where does Atlantis store its temporary files, if any, and what are they called?
I have a few concerns about security. You can save AWP files encrypted, but it strikes me that someone could just trawl your hard drive for plaintext in temporary files.
Where does Atlantis Word Processor store its temp files?
Hi,
Atlantis Word Processor never stores or saves any non-encrypted fragment of an encrypted document on your hard disk. Such non-encrypted fragments are only kept temporarily in the computer RAM (Random Access Memory), and automatically removed from there when the encrypted document or Atlantis is closed. The same is true of the passwords used for the encrypted documents. They are only temporarily kept in RAM and removed when no longer required.
In other words, Atlantis Word Processor only saves already-encrypted elements to your hard disk. These cannot be read or decrypted without the corresponding password.
Note that your encrypted documents are as safe as your password is. Always choose a long password, if possible with a mix of characters and numbers.
Cheers,
Robert

Thanks for your speedy reply, Robert. Out of idle curiousity, does Atlantis store temp files if you're using .rtf, .doc, or .docx formats?

Hi,
Like any other application, Atlantis stores temp files for its own non-encrypted documents. Here is how to find them:
1. Press Winkey+R
2. Enter “%temp%” (without the quote marks) in the “Run” box.
3. Press the Enter key.
4. Windows Explorer will open the folder where your system stores temp files by default.
If Atlantis has stored temp files, they will be in that folder. They will all start with “~Atl” (without the quote marks).
HTH.
Cheers,
Robert
