I like the document bar and the idea of having lots of documents open at the same time. It would be a real time saver if there was an option for all documents to be ordered alphabetically, to speed up finding the one I want.
Any chance that could be done?
Document Bar - automatic alphabetical order?
When I close down the program with several documents open and reload the program it reopens the previously loaded documents in the exact same order. I have the "reload open documents from startup" option set. I guess if I loaded several documents from scratch it might be different but this isn't really what I need.Robert wrote:If I open several documents, they all get automatically listed in alphabetical order following the first character in their name. This happens both on the Document Bar and the "Window" drop-down from the main menu.
Is it any different on your system?
You cannot alpha-sort buttons of the Document Bar. But there is a workaround, I think. Press Alt+0. This would display a list of all open documents. Keep pressing the first letter of required filename (for example, keep pressing the "S" key if you want to find the document file named "Schedule.doc") until the required filename gets selected, then press Enter to activate its window.
that's nice thanks!admin wrote:You cannot alpha-sort buttons of the Document Bar. But there is a workaround, I think. Press Alt+0. This would display a list of all open documents. I am guessing it would be too much of a big deal for an option to do this automatically? Eg you have 20 files open - open a new one and it lands in alpha order. That would be a real time saver.
