New read-omly feasture in Document projects

Post by djsmith911 »

I noticed that when I right click on one of the document headings in the toolbar document project object, the new feature "read-only" is available. This is a feature I requested so I was excited to try it out, only to find that the file can still be edited. My request was the document to be read-only in the interface, not at the file level (although both would be fine, but most importantly in the interface). Is this a bug or a feature?

Atlantis has a command to prevent changes to the document file but not to the content in the document window. Sorry, but Atlantis does not have a “reader mode”.

@djsmith911:

I had similar thoughts with yours. :wink: You can read also admin's statement here:
viewtopic.php?p=12504#p12504

---> Its' about "read-only" (= the method used currently) vs. "protected view".

The “Protected View” of MS Word is more about security than preventing changes to the document.

Possibly Atlantis will offer an extra option in the “Tools | Options…” dialog – “Allow editing in read-only documents”.

:D Very fine. I can't speak for the topic starter, but for me that's the way I imagined the Read-Only-feature. Now there is (by default) a clear and strict distinction between being in the "editing mode" and being in the read-only mode of a document. - Thank you.

I agree. This is exactly what I was looking for. Thanks for implementing!
