I am running Windows 10 and I mention that because I think that is relevant to this thread. Lately, say within the last month or so, maybe a little longer, I notice that when I fire up Atlantis I get Windows system sounds - the sound they define as "asterisk." And I have also noticed additional system sounds as I am using the program. A few times the program has crashed while I was using it. I will pay more attn to what exactly I was doing when it does. And just now while saving a document, the program went into that "not responding' mode for a few seconds. A few years ago another app I use developed a number of issues and after a long while of not resolving issues the creators said that Microsoft had made some changes to Windows that interfered with it's operation.
Any insight into the changes in how Atlantis works?
Thanks

It would be helpful to have some specifics regarding those crashes.
Version 4.4.1+ may generate various notifications:

You can disable the "Notification" sound through the "Tools | Customize | Sounds..." menu command of Atlantis.

The last 'near' crash the other day occurred when I was saving a document for the first time. The screen went into "no response' mode for a few seconds. I have been using Atlantis for a very long time and did not have this experience before.

I am sorry, but if the problem is not reproducible, not much can be done about it.
The error addresses reported by the error message boxes rarely help to pinpoint the problem. But sometimes they are helpful.

As I continue to use Atlantis I can't help but notice that the auto-scroll no longer works and wonder if that is somehow linked to why I still get those Windows system sounds every time I open a document. Do you have a solution to get my auto-scroll back up and running? I am finding I use Atlantis a lot less these days...
I will reinstall Atlantis and see if that resolves my issues.
