Atlantis Word Processor 1.6.5.4 is a minor release with a new Navigation tool. It also includes a number of important fixes and improvements. Please read on for details.

Navigation tool

You will use this Navigation tool to browse for document objects in a straight and convenient way.

A new "Select browse object" button is available at the bottom of the vertical scrollbar in the document window:

Click on this new button to choose which object to search for:

Note that you will find a detailed description of the object types involved further down this page.

When you have chosen an object of interest, you can use the related "Previous" and "Next" buttons to navigate to the closest instances of the chosen object in the backward or forward direction. These "Previous" and "Next" buttons are located right above and below the "Select browse object" button respectively:

The "Previous" button scans the document in the backward direction starting from the current caret position. The "Next" button scans the document in the forward direction starting from the current caret position. Alternatively, you could use the corresponding hot keys, "Ctrl+PgUp" for the "Previous" object, "Ctrl+PgDn" for the "Next" object. Each found object is automatically brought into view.

Now here are the various objects you might want to browse documents for using the Navigation tool:
 

Object type	Description
Find	You will select this "Find" object to search the document for the text or formatting currently specified in the "Find / Replace" dialog of Atlantis ("Ctrl+F" hot key): When no text or formatting was previously specified in the "Find / Replace" dialog, clicking the "Previous" or "Next" buttons of the Navigation tool automatically invokes the "Find / Replace" dialog, an obvious suggestion to enter text or formatting to search for. When you have entered either text or formatting or both to search for, you can close the "Find / Replace" dialog and start browsing for the search items with the "Previous" and "Next" buttons of the Navigation tool, or the associated hot keys ("Ctrl+PgUp" and "Ctrl+PgDn").
Graphic	When the "Graphic" object is selected, the Navigation tool searches the document for pictures.
Heading	When the "Heading" object is selected, the Navigation tool searches the document for paragraphs associated with a Heading style ("Heading 1", "Heading 2", etc).
Field	When the "Field" object is selected, the Navigation tool searches the document for fields (including tables of contents).
Hyperlink	When the "Hyperlink" object is selected, the Navigation tool searches the document for hyperlinks.
Bookmark	When the "Bookmark" object is selected, the Navigation tool searches the document for bookmarks.
Footnote	When the "Footnote" object is selected, the Navigation tool searches the document for footnote references or the footnotes themselves, depending on the current caret location in the document. When the caret is currently within the main text of the document (the part of the document where you can insert references to actual footnotes), the Navigation tool searches for footnote references within the main text. When the caret is currently within a footnote area, the Navigation tool searches for footnotes.
Endnote	When the "Endnote" object is selected, the Navigation tool searches the document for endnote references or the endnotes themselves, depending on the current caret location in the document. When the caret is currently within the main text of the document (the part of the document where you can insert references to actual endnotes), the Navigation tool searches for endnote references within the main text. When the caret is currently within an endnote area, the Navigation tool searches for endnotes.
Repetition	When the "Repetition" object is selected, the Navigation tool searches for repetitions of words and phrases according to the settings specified on the "Repetitions" tab of the "Tools | Overused Words..." window:
Overlong sentences	When the "Overlong sentences" object is selected, the Navigation tool searches for overlong sentences according to the settings specified on the "Overlong Sentences" tab of the "Tools | Overused Words..." window:
Page	When the "Page" object is selected, the Navigation tool switches between document pages. The caret is automatically placed at the top of each new page. This object is selected in Atlantis by default.
Section	When the "Section" object is selected, the Navigation tool switches between document sections. The caret is automatically placed at the beginning of each new section.

Finally, note that the "Previous" and "Next" buttons of the Navigation tool display popup tooltips showing which object is currently selected if you hold your mouse pointer over them:

eBook-related changes

• Bug in the "Save as eBook" feature fixed: line spacing was not always saved to eBook files correctly.

• Changes to the "Save as eBook" feature: scalability of Atlantis EPUBs improved by switching to the "em" measurement unit in the CSS file.

• Improvement to the "Save as eBook" feature: when a document contains multiple instances of the same image, now only one graphic file is saved for all the instances to the eBook file.

Miscellaneous changes

• The "Find" feature of Atlantis can now search for "any highlight color". If you check the "Format" box below the "Find" edit box in the "Find / Replace" dialog:
  
  
  
  then click the "Font" button next to the "Format" checkbox:
  
  
  
  you can now choose the "(Any)" item from the "Highlight" box:
  
  
  
  Atlantis will then search the document for text fragments formatted with any highlight color.
  
  Previously you could search for text fragments formatted with individual highlight colors only.
   
• "Iconless" commands are now displayed differently on Atlantis toolbars. In previous versions of Atlantis, "iconless" commands were displayed as long buttons with text captions:
  
  
  
  From now on, "iconless" commands will be displayed as small generic "ball" buttons:
  
  
  
  If you install multiple "iconless" commands on the toolbars, Atlantis would display "ball" buttons of different colors:
  
  
  
  Smaller buttons obviously save extra space on toolbars.
   
• A hot key can be now assigned to the "Add to dictionary" command. By associating a hot key with this command, you could add red-underlined words in the document to the spellcheck dictionary without leaving the keyboard.
  
  To assign a hot key to the "Add to dictionary command", choose the "Tools | Hot Keys..." menu command of Atlantis. The "Add to dictionary command" is available under the "Tools" category:
  
  
  
  Click in the "New hot key" box, press the desired hot key (on the below screen capture - "Alt+A"), click the "Assign" button, then the "OK" button:
  
  
  
  After this whenever you need to add a red-underlined word (a word flagged by the spellchecker as misspelt) to the spellcheck dictionary, you could place the caret anywhere within that word:
  
  
  
  or immediately before it:
  
  
  
  or immediately after it:
  
  
  then press the assigned hot key (in our example - Alt+A) to add the current word (in our example – "Lavenza") to the spellcheck dictionary.
   
• The spellchecker now supports much longer phrases in its dictionaries. The spellchecker in previous versions of Atlantis did not support phrases longer than 4 words. Now you can add much longer phrases (up to 12 words and up to 63 characters including space characters).

• A new "Convert to manual list" command has been added. If you right-click any automatic list (either bulleted or numbered) in a document, and choose the "Convert to Manual List" command:
  
  
  
  the automatic list gets converted to a manual list. Automatic numbers and bullets get replaced with normal "editable" text. A list with manual numbers or bullets can be then copied to other applications which do not support automatic lists, or saved to a plain text file.
   
• A limitation regarding maximum page margin size in Atlantis documents has been lifted. Previously Atlantis did not allow page margins larger than 40% of page width/height. From now on, you can use page margins of any size.
   
• A minor change has been made to the "Capitalize first letter of sentences" option of the AutoCorrect tool of Atlantis. Now the AutoCorrect does not capitalize first letter following ?" or !". In most cases, text terminated with ? or ! and enclosed between quotation marks, is a direct speech not a quotation.
  
  From now on, Atlantis will not capitalize the highlighted characters in the following examples:
  
  

  "At last!" he said.
  "Is there anybody out there?" she asked into the void.

  
  But in the following example, the highlighted character will be capitalized:
  
  

  "Sales reached a record $21 billion." This is also stated in the press release
  from the Ministry of Finance.

  
  
• Improvements to the MS Word DOC document format support in Atlantis.
  
  Previously Atlantis did not load the "Comments" item of document properties from existing DOC files generated by MS Word.
  
  Also if you added "Comments" to a document in the "File | Properties..." dialog of Atlantis:
  
  
  
  saved the document as MS Word DOC, and then opened it in MS Word, the comments did not display in the corresponding dialog of MS Word.
   
• Bug in the "Overused words" feature fixed: inflected forms of words were not grouped correctly.
   
• A bug regarding the "Shrink page count" command has been fixed. Due to that bug, the "Shrink page count" command was permanently disabled (greyed out) in Atlantis.
   
• A Windows Vista / Windows 7 -related glitch has been fixed. Under the Aero theme, the current document line, in some cases, displayed partially off the document window:
  
  
   
• A bug related to the typewriter sounds of Atlantis and its default ("Basic") sound scheme has been fixed. When typing fast, not every key press generated a typewriter sound.
