Frequently Asked Questions

Is ImagiPass a replacement for my password manager?

ImagiPass creates and enters passwords to various software and Web sites too. But ImagiPass has an edge over the average run-of-the-mill password managers:
Ordinary password managers store passwords on media one way or the other. On the contrary, ImagiPass never stores passwords anywhere. So ImagiPass is not a replacement for password managers. ImagiPass has unparalleled qualities. The main goal of ImagiPass is to provide maximum security for passwords. No one else but you will ever be able to access or retrieve your passwords. Still, you won't have to memorize any password. All you will have to do is remember custom combinations of pictures. ImagiPass will simply recompute the original passwords from the combination of pictures that you used to create the passwords in the first place. And to cap it all, ImagiPass will also automatically enter the passwords for you.

Can I use ImagiPass away from home?

Yes, you can. ImagiPass is entirely designed as a fully portable application. ImagiPass can be installed on a USB flash drive. You can then take the USB key with you wherever you go, plug it into any available PC, then run ImagiPass from the USB key.

Could my ImagyPass passwords be compromised or lost?

There is no risk at all. ImagiPass never stores any password or picture combination on media. You, and only you will store foolproof picture mnemonics in your own head. It won't matter if your PC crashes, if hackers break into it, or if you lose your USB stick and ImagiPass with it. Your passwords will always be safe in your own head. If worst should come to worst, all you will ever need to do is reinstall ImagiPass on your PC or on a USB stick. You can then select picture combinations again and ImagiPass will create, recall and enter passwords just as safely as before. Note that the Setup file of ImagiPass can always be re-downloaded from our site.

You can also use any copy of ImagiPass to enter passwords. If you find yourself away from home, and you have forgotten to take your USB stick with you, you can always use a friend's copy of ImagiPass: every copy of ImagiPass will "convert" a specific picture combination to the same password.

What if I want to stop using ImagiPass to enter passwords to a software or Web site?

If for some reason you no longer want to use ImagiPass to enter passwords in a given software or Web site, you can always do it yourself manually. Here is how to retrieve the textual representation of your password:

  1. Bring ImagiPass up (press Ctrl+Alt+P by default).
  2. Select the picture combination that is associated with the target software or Web site.
  3. At the bottom of the ImagiPass window, press the "Copy" button. This will place the corresponding password onto the Windows clipboard. You can then paste the password anywhere suitable.

  How do I upgrade ImagiPass?
