Using ImagiPass to encrypt documents in Atlantis

You can securely password-protect (encrypt) your documents by saving them as Atlantis COD files. Only people with the correct password can open encrypted documents, nobody else.

Choosing a good password is of paramount importance when you encrypt confidential documents. A good password is maximally long and includes random characters because such passwords cannot be cracked. A good password might look like this:

Remembering long passwords is obviously impossible for most people. And storing them on any hardware medium (hard disk, USB drive) is not very safe either. If you can retrieve passwords from a device one way or the other, the odds are that a hacker might do it just as well.

This is where ImagiPass comes in. With ImagiPass, you can manage long secure passwords without having to either remember or store them on a device. You only need to choose easy-to-remember combinations of pictures and store them in your head. Whenever required, ImagiPass will convert any given combination of pictures to a unique password of suitable length. So ImagiPass can be used to encrypt documents in Atlantis.

Of course, as a first step you need to install ImagiPass on your PC if you have not done so yet. Download the latest setup of ImagiPass from our site, and launch it to install ImagiPass.

Now let's take an example.

When you encrypt a document in Atlantis, the following dialog is displayed:

But when ImagiPass is installed on your PC, and you click in one of the above password boxes, a small ImagiPass icon is automatically displayed to the right of the password box:

If you click this ImagiPass icon, you will be asked to choose an appropriate (mnemonic) picture combination. Click here for tips on how to choose easy-to-remember ImagiPass picture combinations.

When you have selected an adequate picture combination, press the ImagiPass Insert button to paste the corresponding password in the box.

You will have to repeat the same operations after clicking in the second password box:

Simply click the ImagiPass icon and choose the same picture combination. Use ImagiPass to insert the password again. OK out of the Atlantis dialog to encrypt the document:

To open an encrypted document in Atlantis, you have to enter a password first:

If ImagiPass is installed on your PC, the ImagiPass icon is automatically displayed when you click in the password box:

If the document was originally encrypted with ImagiPass, you can click the ImagiPass icon and choose the picture combination that you used to encrypt it. ImagiPass will insert the corresponding password for you.

So whenever you need to securely encrypt a document, you can rely on Atlantis and ImagiPass.

Note that ImagiPass is completely free to all registered users of Atlantis Word Processor, and it can be used to create and enter passwords not only in Atlantis but also in any other application.
