Sending Documents By Email

Sending documents as attachments

With Atlantis you can quickly send your documents by email as attachments.

To email the active document, click the Send document by email toolbar button, or choose the File | Email | Send By Email... menu command.

To send all open documents as attachments of the same message, click the Send ALL documents by email toolbar button, or choose the File | Email | Send All By Email... menu command.

To Zip the documents and attach them to a new email message, ready to be sent in your default mailer, choose the File | Email | Send By Email Zipped... or File | Email | Send All By Email Zipped... menu commands.

Note. Atlantis uses a Windows mechanism called Simple MAPI (Mail Applications Program Interface) to communicate with your default email program. If Simple MAPI is not properly configured on your system, Atlantis could not send documents by email.
You should have a Simple MAPI-compliant email program installed, and this email program should be configured to be the default email program (sometimes called the default Simple MAPI client).

Sending documents as a direct email message

At times you might want to email the contents of a document not as attachment, but as a direct email message. In this case, you normally select the document in Atlantis with Ctrl+A, place the selection onto the Windows clipboard with Ctrl+C, create a new email message in your email client, and paste the clipboard contents with Ctrl+V. But there is one small snag here - most email clients (like MS Outlook Express, or Mozilla Thunderbird) either do not support the RTF clipboard data created by Atlantis, or cannot paste it correctly. For example, the original pictures often do not get pasted at all.

In such cases you could use the Edit | Copy as HTML command of Atlantis. This command places the document selection onto the Windows clipboard in the HTML format expected by most email clients. So here is how to proceed whenever you want to copy some text from Atlantis and paste it into a new email message:

  1. In Atlantis, select a fragment or the whole of the document that you want to email.
  2. Choose the Edit | Copy as HTML command.
  3. Launch your email client, and create a new message.
  4. Fill in the "To" and "Subject" fields.
  5. Click in the box meant for the body of your message.
  6. Press Ctrl+V to paste the clipboard contents.
  7. Attach files to your message if needed, and click the Send button.

Note that pasting HTML contents to a new message is possible only when your email client supports pasting HTML.
