localization

Post by enif »

suggestion: external text file with all program's messages (ex. locale.dat). so, everybody can edit and translate them = easy localization of aplication!

file structure:
<mess.no.>
<english text>
<translation>

ex:
10
A very big dog.
Velmi velky pes.

sorry for my bad english... :-)

enif

If this method allowed to create quality localizations we would certainly use it. Regrettably this is not true.

hmmmm. you right. but, you can not create all localizations yourself. what about czech locales? or others? there can be official translations distributed by you, and unofficial ones. ?

enif

ps: maybe menu editor will be enough...

Quality localization is a complete localization (menus, messages, hints, dialogs, hot keys, built-in tips, Help system, sample letters, document templates, AutoCorrect resources, spellchecker, Installation/Deinstallation modules, site pages, ordering form & technical support in this language, etc. etc. etc).

Poorly localized versions would not be the best advertisement.
