insert and overwrite...

Post by Andremusic »

Is there a way to turn of the insert/overwrite option? For some reason, I find myself overwrite so many times while what I really wanted was to insert some text. I know that I probally hit the insertkey on my pc and I have to hit it again, but the fact is that I never use the overwrite option. How can I turn off the overwrite option completely?

You cannot remove the feature itself. But you can assign a different hot key (or no hot key) to this feature through the "Tools | Hot Keys..." dialog:

I removed the hotkey, but it still switches between ins and overwrite when I press the Ins Key.

Thanks! Something else... I always used the Save cursor position which is very helpfull while editing a large finished document. In this new version, though, it doesn't seem to work anymore. is this a glitch?

I tried the new upgrade for the ins overwrite fix, but it still switches after deleting the shortcut key. I replaced the old exe-file with the new version; is there something else I need to do, like replacing a file with the changes?

The "hot key" fix should work in the latest build. First please make sure that the "Hot Keys" dialog says that no hot key assigned to the Ins/Ovr command (as on the attached screen capture). Also are you sure that you downloaded the latest build (7c6):

The "Save cursor position" feature should work too. Note that it applies only to RTFs and CODs.

There was another hot-key-related bug. If you removed the original hot key but assigned another hot key instead, both the new and the original hot keys still worked. Please download the latest build.

Thanks, everything works now. I had saved my work as a .doc file, that was why the Save Cursor Position option didn't work.
