Hi!
I have a question.
I use a Page Break at the end of a chapter in my document so the next chapter starts always on a new page. On that new page, I want the chapter label (which is on the first line) to be centred. The problem now is however that by doing this, the last paragraph of the previous page also becomes centred.
When I try to correct this by setting this paragraph to the left with the Left Align option, the Chapter label on the next page also becomes left aligned.
How can I solve this?

page break and centre problem?
Re: Page Break
Greetings--
Please, toggle on the display of Special Symbols ("Ctrl+Shift+8"). Does your chapter end with a line break like so:

If this is the case, replace the line break with a paragraph break (use the Enter instead of the Shift+Enter keys).
Hope this helps.
Cheers

Re: Page Breaks
Greetings--
"Line Breaks", "Paragraph Breaks", and "Page Breaks" are 3 different things. Your page should end with a paragraph end mark followed by a manual Page Break as illustrated in the first picture below. It should not end with a Line Break followed by a Page Break.
1. "Line Breaks" are created by pressing "Shift+Enter".
2. "Paragraph Breaks" are created by pressing "Enter".
3. Manual "Page Breaks" can be created in several different ways. You can:

3. Manual "Page Breaks" can be created in several different ways. You can:
- a. Press "Ctrl+Enter" to start a new page. This is the easiest but the next method (paragraph "b") is usually preferable. Your document should look this way:

b. Alternative method. Place the insertion cursor within the paragraph that you want to be the first on the new page. Press "Ctrl+G" to bring up the "Paragraph" dialog. Click to display the "Line and Page Breaks" tab. Check the "Page break before" box. "OK" out of the dialog. Your document should look this way:

You should use this "b" method preferentially unless your publisher wants the "a" method.
c. You can also insert a "Next Page Section Break" (use the "Insert Symbol" toolbar button). Note that in this case, you are starting a new page and a new section at the same time. Use this method only if you want to create a new section for specific purposes.

Hi Robert,
thanks for your help, everything is normal now. It seemed that in some chapter endings, there wasn't a paragraph ending at all. There was only a page break line. The publisher told me only about the page break ending that was nessecary, so I think that it should be ok like this.
Thanks!
