Pasting Pictures

Post by Ringo »

Greetings...

I frequently take screen shots of items on my computer and paste them into Atlantis, as well as other pictures too - no problem there. Actually, Atlantis does an excellent job in handling pictures. But quite often, rather than re-taking a screen shot of something I already took and pasted into Atlantis, or some other picture which I already pasted into Atlantis, I copy that item from Atlantis and paste it else where in the document. But it usually pastes as a metafile (where I loose background colors) rather than a bitmap (which is what the original picture is). I'm aware of the drop-down tool button for paste where I can choose whether I want to paste the image as a metafile or as a bitmap, but it would be nice to always get the bitmap rather then the metafile. Is there a way to set the paste feature so that the bitmap is the default when I paste an image?

Thanks... Ringo

When you place a picture from Atlantis onto the clipboard, Atlantis places this picture in three different formats: RTF, Metafile, and Bitmap. The RTF format is the most informative format from the above clipboard formats. For instance, it might include information about scaling factor which should be applied to this picture. When Atlantis generates the RTF data for the clipboard, all pictures are saved as metafiles. This is required for compatibility with word processors which do not understand the PNG graphic format.
When you use the Paste command, Atlantis uses the most informative format available on the clipboard (in our case, the RTF format is the most informative).

But I do not understand which background colors you mean. Did you mean that when you copy a picture in Atlantis, then paste it, it is pasted wrongly? Could you send some screen captures to betatesting@rssol.com ?

Yes. What gets copied onto the clipboard is not exactly what I get back when I paste it without specifying that it be pasted as a bitmap. I will email you some examples...
