I get a lot of documents with headings in CAPITALS. I want headings in slightly larger letters in lowercase, so I have defined a style to handle this. I have unchecked the «All caps» and «Small caps», but the headings still come out in capitals. Is there a way to define a style to convert the all caps-original to lowercase with a capital first letter? (Or can you make it?)

If your headings include "hardcoded" capital letters (typed with the Caps Lock mode activated, or with the Shift key pressed), adjusting styles would not help. Styles never modify the document text itself. You might need to modify each heading manually. You could select a heading in your document, then use the desired command from the "Format | Change Case" menu.
