text flow
As yet Atlantis has no support for automatic text flow around pictures.
However, you could use columns, column breaks and section breaks to create mock text flow around pictures.
We have created a document to illustrate such a possibility. If you want to have a look at it, please download the following ZIP file and extract "Text Flow in Atlantis.rtf" from it:

Please let us have Picture/text flexibility
I just "stumbled" upon Atlantis about 2 months ago at one of the software download sites. I was looking for another kind of program, but saw Atlantis and started reading the information and reviews of the software, and I took the tour of the program. I was very impressed but couldn't afford at the time to purchase it but each time I stumbled upon it on any software site I would read the entire reviews and go through the tours again.admin wrote:As yet Atlantis has no support for automatic text flow around pictures.

I thought it was the most beautiful, versitile word processor I'd ever seen. I use WordPerfect at home but forced to use Word at work. I like Wordperfect but only tolerate Word. However, both Word and WordPerfect can run erratically at times, and this is why I stopped and looked at Atlantis. I'd downloaded that HUGE open source word processor program, Office "something or other" is the name, but I was not happy with it as it's not attractive and seems to have a lot missing.
Anyway, I finally discovered a version of the Atlantis that is called Atlantis Nova, a freeware version, and downloaded it, but the only thing it did for me was to make me want more, to want the full version. I downloaded the 30-day tiral software last night, after seeing all that is offered in the 1.6.1.8 Atlantis version that was missing from the Nova version and it is just wonderful. After using it for the 30 days, if I have the money at that time I will purchase it, otherwise, I'll uninstall it as agreed when I downloaded it and wait until I can pay for it (fixed income/financial) even if I have to save up for it. That's how much I like this program
I see that this "Feature Request" I'm replying to today is from the year 2003. In a few hours it will be 2008, and I'm wondering if the developers of this superb program will EVER go ahead and add the features that would enable text wrap and the ability to use graphics more creatively. This would be the icing on the cake.
I was soooooooooooo surprised when I first placed a picture into a document and found I couldn't move it, manipulate it in any way, nor could I bring text even close to it, just to the top or bottom, leaving all that other "white space." Lots of empty irregular looking space that made the document seem one-sided or off-sided. On a scale of 1 to 100 I would say as close to 100 as possible, say, about 99.999999 or so and still feel I'd undervalued it at that.
I create newsletters, banners, flyers, business cards, etc, using my Word Perfect as well as a wonderful, inexpensive, DTP (Serif) at the present time, but this Atlantis word processor has so many DTP features already, that if the ability to be able to manipulate graphics and have text wrap features would be the ultimate.
In reading all the other requests, most, very valid, I would be happy just to have this one feature added to the next version of Atlantis and I doubt I'd ask for anything else because I feel the other requests are going to eventually be added anyway, I'm just so surprised the graphics capability, found in every other word processor I've ever used, is not in Atlantis, an otherwise, very superior word processor. I'm not complaining or putting Atlantis down, just asking (begging) for the graphics manipulations and text wrapping features because the forum has made a place here for that purpose.
In posting this, I apologize

Well, happy new year and Glory be! He just wrote the "magic" words: text wrap, floating pictures! Thanks.admin wrote:Text wrapping around pictures (or simply "floating pictures") is at the top of the "to do" list. It will most certainly be implemented in Atlantis.
I'm going to keep an eye out for that!
