inserting html+pictures
inserting html+pictures
I´d like to insert a html document wich has (jpg) pictures, to be able to reformat it a little... when I copy and paste atlantis only showes the outline of the picture. Is there a way to link them to the pictures without having to do this manually... (insert-picture)<br>Laurens
Re: inserting html+pictures
As you might know, MS Internet Exlorer places information onto the clipboard using TXT, RTF, and HTML formats. Atlantis supports both TXT and RTF formats but does not support HTML yet. So when you try to paste the contents of the clipboard which you have just copied some text fragment from MS Internet Explorer to, Atlantis uses the RTF contents of the clipboard because it is more informative in comparing to the TXT format.<br>All the picures should be stored within RTF documents in so called metafile format (metafile is a device independent graphic format). Regrettably MS Internet Explorer does not convert GIFs, JPEGs, and PNGs from your HTML page to metafiles. It just places empty frames onto the clipboard. You could check that other RTF editors which do not support HTML, paste such clipboard contents copied by MS Internet Explorer, in the same way as Atlantis - empty frames instead of actual pictures.<br><br>This is quite unpleasant problem of MS Internet Explorer. Only those word processors which support HTML (for example, MS Word 2000), paste such clipboard contents completely properly.<br><br>Atlantis does not support links to external graphic files. But you could copy each particular picture from HTML page separately (in this case, a picture being copied, is placed onto the clipboard in graphic formats - BMP, for instance). Then paste it to the Atlantis document.
Re: inserting html+pictures
Thank you for the enlightenment, the informative description, this problem bothered me now for a long time, with other word processors as well. I actually do it often, that I select by dragging on the internet in IE5 and than paste into a word processor for documentation purposes, or to send stuff to my friend, etc.<br><br>At least now I know the reason...<br><br>Van<br>
Out with it...
The next release of Atlantis will have a better support for such cases. When you paste information from a Web browser, Atlantis will try to resolve links to external graphic files by downloading them from the Web, or retrieving them from your system. So pasting from Web browsers to Atlantis will go more smoothly.
Paste HTML containg photos gives empty boxes
In March 2005, the post said support for pasting HTML containing photos would be forthcomming. It as a year later now and this feature is still missing. What is the ETA for this?
This is the one feature that I sorely need. I do a lot of cutting and pasting of free tutorials from web pages and have to resort to MS Word to do this. I would rather use Atlantis. Atlantis loads quicker and it eliminates all that table formating I do not want. However, becasue it does not copy and paste photos from web pages, it is kind of useless.
Please add this feature to handle HTML pastes ASAP. By the way, your site mentions "tables" coming soon. I can do without those. That is one of the features I like about Atlantis - when I paste from Web pages, Atlantis deletes all those extraneous tables for me. I like that. If I wanted tables, MS Word would do and I wouldn't need Atlantis.
Thanks.

copy from Firefox to Atlantis
I am afraid that copying both html text + pictures from Firefox (v.1.5.1) does not work at all for me. Only plain text is pasted. From IE it is fine adn tables are elegantly removed! A big plus over MS Word is the fact that pasted pictures are actually embedded within document and not only their http path.
