BACKGROUND:
I have been editing a short book for an acquaintance.
My intention is to provide him with ebook versions in epub and mobi/Kindle formats.
I have a good bit of experience with ebook creation, HTML, and CSS.
I discovered something that I think is a bug in the epub that Atlantis creates.
When a heading happens to fall at the top of a page, Atlantis overrides the style for the heading in order to remove the space that would normally be placed above the heading. It does this, presumably, because it thinks that no space above is necessary, since the heading starts at the top of a page.
However, ebooks are reflowable, and the space is always needed above a head unless it starts after a hard page break (this heading was not after a hard break).
I checked this carefully in Sigil and Calibre. I found that if I used the Atlantis .docx file in Calibre, and performed a .docx-to-epub conversion there, everything worked fine.
