Atlantis keeps freezing
Atlantis keeps freezing
I have Atlantis 1.6.5.13 and am using Windows 8.1 *cough*. Alantis constantly freezes for several seconds, every minute or so. Other than that it works great. I have previously gotten error messages like ‘“Access violation at 005483BF in Atlantis.exe” raised while executing sensitive operation’. I’m afraid to make a move. Should I download the most recent version? Is there something else I could do? Am also thinking of going back to Windows 7, which might solve a variety of probs… Thanks.
Must be caused by something else…
Have you tried running a test copy of Atlantis with its default factory settings? Please have a look at Factory Settings
Are you on a network drive?
Have you got enough free space on your hard drive?
Where is your temp folder located?
Is your system up-to-date with all MS patches?
What if you perform a “clean boot” of your system? Is Atlantis still freezing? Please have a look at How to perform a clean boot
Now here is from Windows 8 suddenly hangs/freezes every few minutes:
Cheers,
Robert

HTH.You have to monitor your system during the freezes to find the culprit. I suggest using Process Monitor to check what is happening under the hood when those freezes occur:
Process Monitor
You should also check the Windows 8 Event Viewer. Do the freezes occur in safe mode? If yes then it's probably a problem rooted in the operating system's system files. If not, then it's most likely a driver or 3rd party software issue.
You say they occur with any activity. Does this include the time when the PC is idle? Did you check task manager's performance graph after the freezes? Is the CPU maxed out?
This problem could also be due to malware running in the background and recording or reacting to your activity such as a keylogger, backdoor trojan or worm. To be sure you should check your system for malicious tools and programs with Hijackthis or Autoruns
