Windows 7 no longer searches Atlantis files.

Post by wood.22mark »

It appears that Microsoft is targeting Atlantis users. The search function on Windows 7 searched Atlantis files until my last update. Now it no longer does. I rebuilt my index. It still doesn't search Atlantis files. It does, however, search all .txt files in my recycle bin ... but not .rtf files. I have spent many days searching through the help files in Microsoft ... no help.

Yes, I verified that the indexing included rtf files. The icon even says Atlantis on the rtf option.

Any suggestions?

DocFetcher worked well for me. I had to download it from CNET, though. I don't know why I couldn't download it from the parent site.

I do not think that Microsoft is targeting anyone. By the way, RTF is not a proprietary document format of Atlantis Word Processor. It is a proprietary format of Microsoft.

Please have a look at the following pages:

I have no problem with 64-bit Win 7 Home Premium on an HP laptop.
I know it not a solution, but it indicates that it does have the problem
on all machines.

Bill

P.S. This is the second time. Not taking my posts.

Thank you. I tried these things. They did not help. I am returning to DocFetcher. It not only works, it seems to work better than the original search program embedded into Windows.

This is under Windows 8 64-bit.

If I open Windows Explorer, navigate to “My Computer”, then search for “*.rtf” (without the quotes), all the RTF files present on my system get listed in the search results.
