Problem with "Organize Favorites" feature

[Atlantis version 1.6.5.11; Windows XP (SP2)]

When I click "View..." in the "Organize Favorites" dialog window, nothing happens; when I click it again, Atantis freezes and displays a series of similar error messages:

Exception:
Access violation at 7C9xxxxx in ntdll.dll

This is eventually followed by an "Atlantis.exe - Application Error" message:

The instruction at "0x7c910b2c" referenced memory at "0x00000000". The memory could not be "written".

Click on OK to terminate the program.

I can open the Favorites folder in my file manager without a problem.

This is not a problem on my 64-bit Windows 7 (SP1) computer, only my Windows XP (SP2) computer. This has been happening on versions of Atlantis going back a year or more, but I've been too lazy to report it till now.

No problem here on Windows XP SP3.

Maybe you should try updating your Windows XP system. Tons and tons of security and maintenance patches have been released since SP2, starting with SP3.

Problem solved ...

... it turns out that the problem stems from missing or changed/corrupted file associations in Windows XP that prevent shortcuts to Windows Explorer "file folders" from working properly. [Example: shortcuts to file folders created by using the "Send To Desktop (create shortcut)" command on the right-click pop-up menu of Windows Explorer do not work. I only recently discovered that such shortcuts weren't working, as I haven't created/used one in years -- shortcuts to programs and files, yes, but not to file folders.] Apparently, clicking "View..." in the "Organize Favorites" dialog window of Atlantis is akin to clicking a shortcut to Atlantis's "Favorites" file folder.

Following the most promising-looking archived advice I could find at the Microsoft Web site, I went to «Doug's Windows Tweaks and Tips» Web site and downloaded and applied both the "Directory Extention Fix" and the "Folder Association Fix"; these are REG files that restore default associations -- this did the trick (with no collateral damage so far as I can tell). These are Registry fixes, so it would be prudent to create a System Restore Point before applying them ... just in case.
