language formatting
When cutting-and-pasting a few words which are marked up as being in a language such as German into another part of my document which is in English, if I then type in more text immediately after the German pasting the spellchecker highlights all further words as misspellings. It seems the German language tag has somehow been extended to the new words I type in.
Hi,
This is the way it is supposed to work. If you insert or type text that is formatted as “German”, Atlantis can only assume that the text you type next will also be “German”. Atlantis could not second-guess your intention to change the language it finds at the insertion point. If you want to change the language being used, you need to activate the new language coding from the “Format | Language…” dialog. And start typing new text only after that.
Now, there is another possibility. Let’s suppose that you type mostly US English text, and only type or insert German text infrequently. You’ll be better off if Atlantis always assumes that the text you type is US English. For this, you need to select “US English” in the “Format | Default Language…” dialog. After that, if you insert some German text, you will need to select it and expressly format it as “German” from the “Format | Language…” dialog. But the text you will type next will be automatically formatted as “US English”.
HTH.
Cheers,
Robert
