Hello:
I'm trying to create a bullet style that continues the bullet to the next paragraph. I assign the next paragraph to "Bullet" in the style creation menu and save the document as a "normal" template.
When I open a new document, the style has reverted back to "normal" for the next paragraph. In other words, the first paragraph is bulleted, but the next one is not.
How can I get this to stick?
Any suggestions would be welcome.

Maybe you save the document as a "normal" template but your default template for all new documents might be a different file. Here is how to go about this.
Please, click “File | New | Formats & Templates…”
In the “Document formats” box, select the file format that is set up as the “Default format for new documents” (see box below). If the file format is “Rich Text Format”, you should select “RTF Documents”. The “Template” box will show you which template is used for all documents created through the “Ctrl+N” hot key. By default, it is “Normal.rtf”. Yours might be a different file.
Now, click “File | Document Templates…”
In the “Choose Document Template” dialog, select your default template. Open it.
Set up your bullet style as desired. Save your changes and close the template.
From then on, any new document created with “Ctrl+N” should have a “bullet style” working as you expect it to.

Thanks for your reply. I've been very careful to use the correct template for Normal document, each time I open a new document.
What I've observed is that even in a document that is not a template, setting the "next Paragraph" to Bullet works until I save the document and close it. If I then re-load the document, the next paragraph designation is back to "Normal".
I hope that this clarifies the problem

There might be some misunderstanding here.
Strictly-speaking, you cannot “open a new document”. You “create” new documents using either the “File | New Document” command or the corresponding hot key (“Ctrl+N”). These new documents are automatically created using your default template for new documents (by default it is “Normal.rtf”).
Note that you can also create new documents using a different template from the default one. This is done through the “File | New | Create From Template” command or the corresponding toolbar button.
So, how exactly do you create the documents that do not work as expected?
If you have modified a template, have you saved it before closing it?

I'm puzzled. Why doesn't next paragraph stick as Bullet?

Here is a workaround. You could use it at least temporarily. It seems this glitch is only happening with a “.docx” template. It does not happen if I use a “.rtf” template. Here are the steps:
1. Create a new file using “File | New > Rich Text Format (RTF)
2. Create a new “Bullet” style in that file with suitable properties.
3. Click “File | Save Special > Save As Template…”
4. In the “Save Document As Template” dialog, select “Rich Text Format (*.rtf)” as the file type.
5. Give any suitable name to the template (“Bullet.rtf”?)
6. Save the template.
7. Create a new file using “File | New > Create From Template…”
8. Choose “Bullet.rtf” as the template to use.
9. Create the new document from that template.
The bullet formatting should stick as the next paragraph format for any paragraph formatted with the “Bullet” style.

I tried your suggestion and there is no problem using the rtf format for the template.
However, if I save the document in the docx format, the problem recurs when I re-open the docx document.
I guess that I'll stick to the rtf format for the time being, until the problem is corrected.
