Atlantis Toolbars

Post by Peter Merton »

Thank you for the new Toolbars which I have downloaded. There is something missing: on the old View menu one had the options of Hiding and Showing all Toolbars (Alt V T H) and (Alt V T W).
I frequently use these shortcuts to hide the Toolbars, and then show only the Standard one if that’s all I need for the work I am doing. (Alt V T S)
Please can you bring the Hide and Show facilities back??
Keep up the brilliant work which you are doing with Atlantis.
Regards, Peter.

Peter, these two commands had to be removed as a part of our efforts to make the toolbar-related features of Atlantis more consistent. In the latest beta version of Atlantis 1.6.5.1 (b9) or higher, you will find the following changes:

1) Atlantis has multiple "context" non-customizable toolbars displayed under corresponding modes of Atlantis. For instance, when you start editing a header or footer, Atlantis automatically displays the "Header and footer" toolbar. The "Preview" toolbar previously listed under the "View | Toolbars" menu actually is "context" too. It was meant exclusively for the "File | Preview..." mode of Atlantis. Now this "Preview" toolbar works similarly to other context toolbars of Atlantis. You cannot enable it in Atlantis without enabling the corresponding "Print preview" mode. You cannot customize it because other context toolbars and menus in Atlantis have a fixed design and set of commands.

2) The "View | Toolbars | Show / Hide all" commands were misleading because you cannot hide ALL toolbars. Atlantis shows and hides "context" toolbars automatically as you switch between various modes of Atlantis. For example, when you double-click a document header in Atlantis, you normally get 4 toolbars in Atlantis. The 4th toolbar – Header and footer – is context. You cannot hide it. This is why these "Show / Hide all" commands had to be removed.

Sorry if these changes cause inconveniences to you.

If you need more working space in Atlantis, why not use the "View | Full Screen" mode. On the "View" tab of the "Tools | Options..." dialog you can choose GUI components to hide under the "Full screen" mode. The F9 key switches between the normal view mode and the Full Screen mode of Atlantis.

Hi Admin,
Thanks for your reply.
I was still using beta 6. Now I have beta 9. This has made things clearer.
Having three selectable toolbars instead of the previous four, simplifies things.
Problem solved.
Ninety percent of my work is done with only the Standard toolbar, which I have customised by adding: AutoCorrect Options, Overused words, Power Type, Add to Power Type, Save All Documents, Save a Copy of Document As.
I use full screen mode often, with only the main menu and document bar, as anything else negates the benefit of Full Screen mode.
For my word processing work this gives me a powerful tool, which is getting better all the time thanks to the Atlantis Team.
Regards, Peter.
