End Note Reference

Is there a way to set up a style for end note references (like word 2007) where I can insert a footnote or endnote and have the reference style be applied automatically?

Hi,
Whenever you insert a footnote or endnote into a (new) document, Atlantis not only automatically inserts the footnote with the parameters that you defined in the “Insert | Footnote…” dialog that pops up, but it also automatically creates a “Footnote Text” style in the document. You can adjust the “Footnote Text” style characteristics in any way you like either from the Atlantis “Styles” panel of the Control Board (F6) or from the “Format | Style…” dialog.

The Atlantis “Normal” template on which all new documents are based does not include a specific “Footnote Text” style. But you can create one yourself manually. In this way, all newly-created documents will already have your custom “Footnote Text” style. Here is how to proceed:

1. Click “File | Document Templates…”
2. Select and open the “Normal.rtf” template (following which all new documents are created by default).
3. Click “Insert | Footnote…”
4. Give the footnote any suitable characteristics. OK out of the dialog.
5. Use the “Styles” panel of the Control Board (F6) or the “Format | Style…” dialog to adjust the characteristics of the newly-created “Footnote Text” style. OK out of the dialog.
6. Repeat steps 3 to 4 above, this time inserting an endnote instead.
7. Use the “Styles” panel of the Control Board (F6) or the “Format | Style…” dialog to adjust the characteristics of the newly-created “Endnote Text” style. OK out of the dialog.
8. Press “Ctrl+S” to save your changes to the “Normal” template.
9. Press Ctrl+W to close the “Normal” template.

From then on, all newly-created documents will have footnotes or endnotes automatically formatted with the corresponding style as defined in your “Normal” template.
HTH.
Cheers,
Robert

"Footnote reference" and "Endnote reference" styles in MS Word are character styles. The present version of Atlantis Word Processor does not support character styles.

There is a simple way to change the formatting of note references in a document in Atlantis:

1) Press Ctrl+F to display the "Find/Replace" dialog.

2) Type "^e" (without quotes) in the "Find" edit box if you want to change the format of endnote references. Or type "^f" if you want to change the format of footnote references.

3) Click "Find and Select All" button. All the note references (including backward references within the note text) will be selected as a "multiple selection".

4) Choose the "Format | Font..." menu command, specify the desired format for the note references, and click OK.
