Permanently Change R-Margin and Default Settings

Post by Sharon »

I would like to know how I can Permanently change my Right Margin from 1” to 1.2”. Also I would like to know how I can Permanently change the Default Setting from “My Documents” to C:\Desktop\Atlantis. I hate setting these every time I type something up.

Many Thanks,
Sharon

The initial settings for newly created documents are controlled by the corresponding document templates.
If you want to specify new initial page settings, zooming factor, default language coding, initial text, or initial formatting for your newly created documents

a) Choose the File | Document Templates... menu command,

b) Double-click your default document template (as a rule, the Normal) to open it for editing,

c) Modify the desired settings for this template. For example, change page margins, page size, zooming factor.
You could also type some text.
If you wish to retain your default template empty (no text) but you require another initial text formatting, simply “select all” (Ctrl+A), then apply new formatting (for example, another default font size, font face, bold, italic, line alignment, line spacing) – you could use the toolbars for formatting your template.
You could also modify the default style list of your template (choose the Format | Style | Document Style List… menu command).

d) Optionally – save your changes made to the template (Ctrl+S), and close it (Ctrl+W).

Now press Ctrl+N to create a new document. It should have the same settings as your default document template.

To specify a different Document Folder than “My Documents”, please go to the Tools | Options…, then click the Load / Save tab, then use the Use document folder controls to specify another Document Folder, or to disable the current Document Folder (the Open Document and Save Document As dialogs would always browse for your current folder not for any default folder).
