"Window/Orphan control" problem in stylesheets

Post by JR »

Atlantis 1.6.2: When the "Window/Orphan control" option is applied via paragraph stylesheets in an RTF document, that particular option is not saved when the document is saved.

When I close and then reopen the document, the option is no longer applied to the assigned paragraphs; the option is still shown as activated/"checked" in the definition of the stylesheet, and the paragraphs seem to retain all other stylesheet parameters.

When I manually apply the option to a paragraph (not using stylesheets), the option is retained -- unless I reapply the paragraph stylesheet, in which case the option malfunctions again.

This only affects RTF documents; DOC documents seem to work properly in this respect.

I'm using Windows XP Home (SP2).

To begin with, any togglable item of the paragraph/font format of a style in Atlantis, can be in one of three states: "checked", "unchecked", and "undefined". The "undefined" state means that this item of the format will be inherited from the base style of the given style, or from the default format of Atlantis (when the given style does not have a base style). So when the "Widow/orphan control" box of the "Paragraph format" dialog of a style looks as if it was grayed, this means that this style sets no specific value for the "Widow/orphan control" attribute (ie. this attribute is undefined in this style). Consequently this attribute will be inherited from the base style of the given style, or from the default paragraph format of Atlantis.

I personally cannot reproduce any problem with the "widow/orphan control" item of the paragraph format. If you still believe that something works incorrectly (taking into account my above note regarding the "undefined" state of the format items), please attach a sample document to your reply, and provide us with step-by-step instructions on how to reproduce the problem. Alternatively, if there are privacy concerns, please send your sample document to support@AtlantisWordProcessor.com.

The option was indeed fully "checked," as I tried to indicate.

The problem persists after more troubleshooting, so I'll send a sample document to your support e-ddress.

Thanks for the file & instructions. I was unable to reproduce this problem because I am using Atlantis 1.6.3. It seems that this bug has been fixed in version 1.6.3. This version was released for betatesting on May 9. Please download the new version 1.6.3 from the Betatesting page. Atlantis 1.6.3 will be released officially soon.

Sorry, I did not check things carefully. Version 1.6.3 still had this bug. It has been just fixed. The new build of Atlantis 1.6.3 is available on the Betatesting page.

We apologize for the inconveniences. Thanks for reporting this bug.

That's good news ... I was just about to post that I was still having the problem with 1.6.3(a3), but the new version, 1.6.3(a4), does indeed work properly.

Thanks for the quick responses and fix.
