how to make headings?

Post by Andremusic »

OK, I know this is very strange to ask, but I totally forgot after not using Atlantis for a while how to make headings. I want to give a heading to my chapter names in the hope they will show up in the epub file as headings, but my heading list is empty. so I cannot assign anything. How do I make the headings?

If you do not have "Heading N" styles in your document, you can import these styles from any other document you have. Just use the "Format | Style... > Import..." button in your Atlantis.

Alternatively you can manually create "Heading N" styles in your document.
The simplest way to do so is by clicking in the "Style" box of the Atlantis toolbars, typing the required style name, and pressing Enter. Atlantis would include the formatting characteristics of the current document paragraph in that new style. To modify the formatting properties of this style, go to the "Format | Style..." dialog of Atlantis, highlight (click) the desired style, and click "Modify...".

Thanks! I remembered it again. However I also remember again a problem that I had before and that is still there. I don't believe it's a real bug in Atlantis but it always feels like it for me.

After making the headers and clicking on one of them, the cursor always ends up on the page beforr the target chapter and I have to scroll down to the position I really want to be. I remember vaguely that I can avoid this by doing something, but I forgot what that was. Is this something that should be fixed in Atlantis?

Thanks for the update!

When Atlantis creates headers and footers in a document, this might affect the text flow within the document main area. Even when new headers and footers are initially blank, this might affect document pagination (extra pages, and text reflow between pages). So it is not a bug, if you did not mean something else.

Thanks. Another question . I defined all my chapter names in the document by selecting the chapter name, right mouse click opening paragraph, and setting the outline level on Level 1.

Now when I try to insert a TOC on the first page, it doesn't work. Atlantis tells me "Atlantis found no paragraph associated with "Heading" styles in this document."

What do I do wrong here?

The TOC feature of Atlantis scans the document text for paragraphs associated with the "Heading N" paragraphs. Paragraphs associated with other styles are not picked up, no matter their outline level.
