Long dashes running over the margin or splitting

I have inserted from the symbol menu a long dash and it runs past the margins for the text and into the white space on the right of the pages.

I've also tried typing three dashes and then a space, but then the long dash breaks into two dashes.

Any help for the problem? It has only happened a couple of times in the unusual circumstances of having a long dash at the end of the line. Perhaps I just need to adjust the spacing so that the long dash is forced to the next line?

Long dashes are not supposed to appear in the right margin.

Could you please send your "faulty" document with a long dash in the right margin to support@AtlantisWordProcessor.com?
