Opening documents w/Atlantis

I had used Open Office and Jarte for some time but likeAtlantis better. Problem is I don't know how to open saved documents w/Atlantic and have made a mess of my folders, some responding to OO and some to Jarte or both. Since I dont want to use those other two any longer, how do I make Atlantis open ALL my saved docs? What happens if I uninstall both Jarte and OO?, will they take my document files with them?

Normally uninstallers do not remove document files created by a user. But if you want to make Atlantis your default word processor, you do not have to uninstall other word processors from your PC. Just choose the "Tools | File Associations..." menu command of Atlantis, and associate Atlantis with desired file extensions. Double-clicking files with those extensions in Windows Explorer would automatically open them in Atlantis.
