Spell Checker Won't Work
I have Zone Alarm installed and as a result the windows script files used in the dictionaries are locked and will not function. A message also appears that states: Can Not Open File "C:\Program Files\Atlantis\SpellCheck\Program" when I click on cancel, I get another message which states: "Error Initializing SpellCheck System "C:\Program Files\Atlantis\SpellCheck\Program" Do you wish to retain this spellcheck system and make another attempt later?" What can I do to remedy this problem? Please Help.... Thank You
Re: Spell Checker Won't Work
Of course, “C:\Program Files\Atlantis\SpellCheck\Program” is not a valid Atlantis spellchecker. It should be something like this:

C:\Program Files\Atlantis\SpellCheck\English (American).asc

or

C:\Program Files\Atlantis\SpellCheck\English (British).asc

or

C:\Program Files\Atlantis\SpellCheck\French.asc

etc.

I could not tell you what (or who) is responsible for placing a wrong filename to the Atlantis settings. But this could be fixed.

First, choose the “Tools | Options…”. Click the “Spellcheck” tab, then the “Spellcheck Systems & Dictionaries…” button.
Now click items from the “Spellcheck Systems” list box. If Atlantis could not initialize a particular spellcheck system, simply remove it (click the topmost “Remove” button).

Now close Atlantis.
If you require the American English spellchecker only, simply launch any setup file of Atlantis Ocean Mind. If you want to use the online install, please disable Zone Alarm. Otherwise download the Single File setup, and launch it. Do not forget to check the “American English spellchecker” component.

Alternatively you could download the desired separate Spellchecker Setup file from this page:
http://www.rssol.com/en/html/export/spellcheck.htm

Now please check the contents of the “c:\Program Files\Atlantis\Spellcheck” folder. It should contain *.asc files.

If there are still problems, choose the “Tools | Options…” command again. Click the “Spellcheck” tab, then the “Spellcheck Systems & Dictionaries…” button. Use the topmost “Add…” button to add the desired asc-files to the list of installed spellcheckers.
Re: Spell Checker Won't Work
Sir, I think you are not understanding the problem Bushmaster is trying to explain to you about the file extensions and the problem with Zone Alarm. It is Zone Alarm that sees the file extensions .zlx and considers the files a previously found virus.

This is how Zone Alarm works: When Zone Alarm detects a threat from a virus, etc., it (Zone Alarm) changes the extension of the file to .zlx so that the file/virus cannot run. So any file with a .zlx extension is considered by Zone Alarm as a threat and hence cannot be unlocked. No matter how many times we try, the add-on dictionaries will never work as long as they are using the .zlx extension. This is a conflict with Zone Alarm. I've already tried renaming the files extension, with Zone Alarm off, however, Zone Alarm continues to lock these files.

This looks like a wonderful program, however, until the conflict with Zone Alarm is fixed, it will be unusable to a lot of us.

In order to verify this, if you will install Zone Alarm on your computer and try to use the add-on dictionaries yourself, you will experience the problem.

Please let us know if you will be looking into this problem as I would love to purchase Atlantis for my word processing needs.

Respectfully

Getreal :o
Re: Spell Checker Won't Work
I could confirm my previous words: ZoneAlarm does not lock ZLX-files created by other applications. ZoneAlarm associates itself with the ZLX file extension. But this does not mean that Atlantis could not use its ZLX lexicons.

As I understand, you were attempting to perform some operation on Atlantis add-on dictionaries by double-clicking their files in Windows Explorer. But you might never have to do this. Atlantis never associates itself with the ZLX file extension. So Atlantis would never react on double-clicking ZLX files.
If you double-click a ZLX file, ZoneAlarm would tell you that this file is locked. But this is not right because this file was not created by ZoneAlarm. Regrettably ZoneAlarm is not smart enough (it would be better if it checked whether a particular ZLX file contains a VBS script).

If you wish to install an add-on dictionary to Atlantis, you should follow these instructions.
A link to this page is available from the Add-on Spellcheckers.
