standard drag-and-drop of a text selection does not work

Post by Leopoldus »

For a long time already I can not use Windows standard drag-and-drop function in Atlantis Word. When I have selected any part of the text (it might be several symbols, some words or multiple lines or even multiple selection) and then click over the selection with LMB (left mouse button), it does not "grab" the selection, but instead it always selects the whole paragraph.
I thought, that may be I make my clicks too fast, so it works as a triple click. But no, even when I leave the selected text make the 3.rd click 10 minutes later, the result is still the same.

Well, the only topic at the forum I could find for this issue it the following: http://www.atlantiswordprocessor.com/en ... c.php?t=54 (it was 16 years ago). The problem described in that topic was very, very similar to my own, besides the essential difference. There the cause of the trouble was missing of the driver for Microsoft intelli-mouse. But it is not my situation, as I get the same issue at three different Lenovo laptops with either internal touchpad or external USB mouse.

What could I try to resolve the problem or at least to find the cause of it.

Thanks!

Is the "Drag & Drop" box checked on the "Edit" tab of the "Tools| Options..." dialog?

Yes, surely. Furthermore, I have tried to uncheck this option in order make a test, but the app behavior has not changed at all.

If it looks like a triple click, please run this setup file:
http://www.atlantiswordprocessor.com/en ... tis3en.exe
to replace the executable file awp.exe with its debug version (you could always revert to a standard version of Atlantis by running the corresponding setup file).
Run Atlantis, and try doing drag & drop. In case of a triple click, it would display a message box. Tell us what that box says.

I can not make any triple click, as it gives an error message on EVERY mouse click: on the 1st click and on the 2.nd click. And more, if I select some text with keyboard and click on the selection, the app gives the error message too - pleas review my screenshots.

Your Windows seems to be running for weeks without a single restart. If this is correct, please simply restart Windows.

Any next release of Atlantis will include a provision for such scenario.

Yes, your conclusion is correct. I usually reload my Windows once in 4-6 weeks. I think, that is should nit be a problem for Windows 7.

Do you suppose, that this fact might be a cause of this issue? But the drag-and-drop function works flawlessly in all other applications (including e.g. MS Word, Notepad etc) besides Atlantis.

This fact is the cause of the problem. Any next release of Atlantis will include a fix.
