Remember Documents Feature

Post by valin »

I am running Atlantis 1.1.2.2. Up until I updated to this version, the "remember documents" feature worked. It doesn't now. Any clues as to why or is this just a bug in the latest version?

Maybe I'm remembering incorrectly how it worked before. You can go to File and Recent Documents to see the recent documents opened. That works. I thought that you could left-click on the down arrow next to the Open Existing Documents button on the toolbar and also see a list of recent documents opened. If not, I stand corrected. If you should, nothing, then when I -click on the down arrow next to the Open Existing Documents button on the toolbar left-click on the down arrow next to the Open Existing Documents button on the toolbar, the down arrow and the Open an Existing Document folder change state to show a clicked position (like the button was pressed) and it stays there doing nothing I can see. Both the folder and down arrow are depressed. On the other hand, if I left-click the Open an Existing Document folder on the toolbar, the Open Document dialog box pops up as it should.

Well, I must say that I still do not understand what is a problem.

How things are supposed to work?

If you want to open a Recent Document, choose the "File | Recent Documents" menu command, and click the desired document.
Alternatively you could use the drop-down menu of the "Open Document" toolbar button. This drop-down menu also contains the Recent Documents.

If you would like to open a document from a Recent Folder, choose the "File | Open..." menu command, or click the "Open an existing document" toolbar button. Then use the "Folders:" combo box of the "Open Document" dialog to switch to the desired folder.

1.1.2.3 or 1.2.2.3. ?

My latest version says 1.1.2.3. Is this a miss type or is my updater not working on atlantis.

That's what's not working, the alternate method: "Alternatively you could use the drop-down menu of the "Open Document" toolbar button. This drop-down menu also contains the Recent Documents." No drop-down menu comes up to show the Recent Documents.

I've also upgraded to vs. 1.1.2.3. Same problem as with 1.1.2.2.

Here's what I see when I press the drop-down menu button on the "Open Documents" toolbar button, using build No. 1.1.2.3

That is what is not working with my install anymore. When you left-click to get the drop down menu, no drop-down menu shows. I do have it set to show the last 10 documents. Maybe I should completely uninstall atlantis and then install it instead of installing the upgrade over top the old version. I'm running vs. 1.1.2.3 and this problem began when I did the online upgrade to vs. 1.1.2.2.

I can't see how that could possibly hurt. One last question, though. Are you clicking on the folder iicon or the little down arrow next to it, like this:

I ask because if I click on the folder icon itself, I don't see Recent Documents either, only when I click on the arrow.

I'm clicking on the down arrow. No, with this not working correctly doesn't present any problems. I can get to my recent documents the other way (File | Recent Documents). It's just something I'm used to using and now it's not working.

Oops! This is just a miss type, of course.

As I understand, you mean that the "File | Recent Documents" menu does not work. Right? What does not work? Is this sub-menu empty? Or when you click the recent documents, Atlantis does not open them?

Maybe you accidentally removed all the recent documents (File | Recent Documents | Remove All). In this case the “File | Recent Documents” menu command is not available (is invisible).

Also if the "Remember Documents" option (Tools | Options, General) is 0, Atlantis does not memorize documents or folders at all.

No, No; the File | Recent Documents works just fine. It's the alternate method of getting recent documents by using the drop-down menu (left-clicking the down arrow next to the Open Document icon on the toolbar) that doesn't work. Yes, I know about the "Remember Documents" option (Tools | Options, General). Mine is set to 10. What's probably frustrating for you is you can't duplicate my problem. I deleted Atlantis and reinstalled it, but I still had the problem. I need to "uninstall" Atlantis next and delete all registry references to Atlantis. The only reason I haven't tried that yet is that want to dig up my copy of the registration code for Atlantis before I do this. Just as an experiment, I installed Atlantis vs. 1.1.2.2 on my computer at work to see if I had the same problem. Guess what, it worked fine. I didn't have a problem at home until I upgraded Atlantis to vs. 1.1.2.2 via the internet. Even when I downloaded the full version 1.1.2.3 and installed over the old version, it didn't fix my problem. As soon as I find my registration code (I know where it is), I'll do a more thorough uninstall and try a fresh install to see what happens. Again, this is just a minor anoyance and it seems to be specific to just my computer at home.

If you forgot your registration code, you could write to register@rssol.com. Your registration code would be resent to you.

You do not need to remove the Registry entries. Just launch Atlantis.exe with this command-line:

Atlantis.exe -dls -dss

With this command-line Atlantis does not read settings at startup (the default settings are used), and does not save them on close.

The Atlantis toolbars have many drop-down menus. Do all they work properly?
