Underline & Clipboard Problems

Post by Cheemag »

Good afternoon all,

2 problems:

1. Almost always Atlantis will fail to honour Ctrl-V to paste; will only do it occasionally. I have to use my clipboard tool (Ditto) to paste most of the time. It used to work.

2. Underlined text often prints with the underline over the top of the text rather than below. OK on the screen, only does this on the printer. Didn't used to do this.

(Windows-7 Home Premium 64-bit on the offending machine).

Reinstall needed ?

Most likely, reinstalling would not help. Unless you have a highly customized installation. On the other hand, you could try running Atlantis with its default settings (Tools | Factory Settings… > Launch a test copy of Atlantis with factory settings).

1. What happens if you paste using the toolbar button Image, or Shift+Ins, or choose the Edit | Paste menu command?

2. If you select an underlined word, and press Ctrl+D, is any “Underline Style” visible in the Font Format dialog?

All of these worked. Today.

I get this: (attached).

Is <b>Ctrl+V</b> now also working? If not, is it working with factory settings? If it is working with factory settings, maybe you inadvertently changed the hot key assigned to the <b>Edit | Paste</b> menu command? To check this, open Atlantis and click <b>Tools | Hot keys…</b> In the <b>Hot keys</b> dialog, choose the <b>Edit</b> category, and select the <b>Paste</b> command. Is <b>Ctrl+V</b> listed in the <b>Assigned hot keys</b> box? If not, press the <b>Restore Original Hot Keys</b> button, and OK out of that dialog.

Could you please post a sample document whose underlined words print with an overbar instead?

I don't use the hotkey in Atlantis, only Ctrl-v; it hasn't been reassigned.

Attached Test.rtf which printed with the underline above the text the first time and printed correctly the second time. I had to stop and start the print spooler between these (a known Windows 7 'feature' requires this quite often).

The same document loaded in a factory settings test was a mess: everything in the whole document was underlined using various underline styles. I didn't print it.

On my x64 Windows 10 system, this “Test.rtf” document displayed and printed equally well in Atlantis 1.6.6.5 with and without Factory Settings, and also in Word 2007 and Apache OpenOffice Writer 4.1.1…

I have only Atlantis, so I can't try it in another WP, although if a reinstall doesn't work, perhaps I'll try printing it in another WP.

Will take some time as I'm going on holiday tomorrow.

It's still the same after a re-install. I'll have to let it go in favour of one of the free WPs. Probably put Atlantis on the other machine.
