Opening DOC file

Post by John Stafford »

I have a DOC file which was converted from a file produced in another word processor. The converted file opens perfectly in Word, but fails to open successfully in Atlantis (latest version). The file merely shows various garbled characters. I understand the limitations of such procedures but was curious that Word could handle it, and Atlantis now has such functionality. Would appreciate any insight. I can send the file to you if this might help. John :?:

Your DOC is a "MS Word 2.0 DOC". Atlantis does not support this old document format. Atlantis supports MS Word 6.0/95/97/2000/XP DOCs.

Curious about this; I have many old Word 2.0 docs from when I had windows 3.1; I now have Win98 and originally had Word 97 which handled them fine. Now I have Word 2000 which also handles them fine.

Question I have, in order for Atlantis to handle a word 2.0 doc, it must be 'saved' either under Word 97 or 2000? Would that work?

Let me know. thanks

A DOC must be saved as a "MS Word 6.0/95" DOC or "MS Word 97/2000" DOC. MS Word allows to convert DOCs. Use the "Save As Type" box of the "Save As" dialog of MS Word to convert your DOCs to a newer format.
