Open and Save dialog boxes with 2 monitors . .

Post by tenac1ous »

Just installed latest version in order to simplifiy .mobi creation - it works a treat.

Previously, I ran Atlantis full screen on my second (left hand) monitor in portrait mode;
the 'Open File' and 'Save As' dialog boxes appeared on my large main monitor - perfect.

Now, those boxes appear on the far left of the second monitor, with only the right half of the box visible.
So the box has to be hauled back to the centre of the screen to enter file details each time.
This is not viable, and I haven't seen it with any other software.

I understand this new version had some mods to accommodate dual monitor setup, but I don't see any
settings to overcome this.

Any clues, anyone please?

TIA

UPDATE: The second monitor is in portrait mode to reduce scrolling.
If it's changed to std landscape mode, the dialog boxes do appear within the work area, albeit on the
far left hand side.

Have ruefully changed back to very old version 1.6.1.9 to avoid the file open/save as hassles.

Lost the very useful internal save as .mobi in the process, but this can be done with Calibre.

Maybe this dialog box glitch will be addressed in upcoming version of Atlantis.

A very fine, tiny footprint application - how do they pack so much into such compact code?

Doesn't look like updating by replying to my own post is taboo here, so:

In theory, using AMD's (was ATI) Catalyst Control Center and the Hydravision
addon you can pin the dialog windows where you want them.

See: http://www.emastercam.com/board/index.p ... opic=70918

This works with some applications but not with Atlantis.
I don't know much about coding but presumably something is hard-coded
to open the dialog windows on hard left.

UPDATE: To get the functionality I need, I now have 2 versions of Atlantis
installed and use the old old one for most tasks - quite adequate -
and fire up the latest version if I want to do a quick save as .mobi FILE.

I can remember doing kludges like this under WIN 95 !!!

The Atlantis main window and its child windows are not supposed to appear on different monitors.

What about other dialogs of Atlantis ("Format | Font...", for instance): do they also display wrongly on your system? Are they also wrongly aligned/centered?

Please download this setup file of Atlantis:
http://www.AtlantisWordProcessor.com/en ... is16en.exe
Run the setup file, and follow the onscreen instructions.
Then run Atlantis.
Has the problem gone?

Thanks for detailed responses - very impressive.

Everything appears perfectly as it should EXCEPT the dialog boxes.

I had already installed current version, as described in my first post Jan 24th; the install file size was 3,837,481

However the file you just nominated has a file size of 3,839,000*
After installation, the first time I ran Atlantis, the Open File/Save File dialog boxes appeared
totally visible on top of the program window in the second monitor. Excellent, I thought - all sorted.

However, after closing Atlantis and reopening, both dialog boxes had reverted to partially off screen
on LHS of screen, as before.

* If you tell me that the version just posted should have a fix for this issue
I am prepared to go back and tweak the AMD video utility again.
Otherwise, too busy just now - happy to leave both versions installed.

Thanks again.

Hopefully last update:
After a cold reboot, Atlantis now consistently displays the 'File open' and
'Save as' dialog boxes sitting nicely on top of the main Atlantis screen
on the second monitor in portrait mode.

NB: There is a brief flash of the old loading position too far left, then a
dialog box quickly appears in the correct place - if you have done some
code tweaking to achieve this, all kudos to you.

The current public version of Atlantis does not support multimonitor systems with different screen resolutions (as in your case).

The file from my previous post is a tweaked version. The main window of Atlantis and all its child dialogs are supposed to appear on same monitor. Dialogs should now appear properly centered (both horizontally and vertically).

If the tweaked version works correctly on your system, the tweak will be included in any next public update of Atlantis.
There is a brief flash of the old loading position too far left, then a dialog box quickly appears in the correct place
This is a normal behavior.

Well, this response is Customer Service par excellence !

Yes, the dialog boxes appear perfectly centred on top of the Atlantis main screen on the second monitor, which is in portrait mode.

I had no particular wish to have them open on the main monitor - it's just easier to gaze straight ahead rather than look left.
(In fact it's probably better ergonomically to promote neck and eye movement by looking left.)

Well done - feel free to quote as testimonial.

Cheers.

Font color or highlight dropdowns not working on 2nd monitor

Post by tenac1ous »

When Atlantis is run in main screen, everything works perfectly.

Now I drag Atlantis to the LH (preferred) screen and resize it to fit.
Everything works perfectly, EXCEPT:

When the FONT COLOR and HIGHLIGHT dropdown box arrows are clicked, no selection boxes appear.

Have tried reset to factory defaults etc without success.

A tiny issue, and as we're possibly using an uncommon configuration (two monitors with Atlantis in long tall, second monitor) I wouldn't expect a fix for this.

But I never underestimate the genius of the people who packed such a capable WP into such a tiny footprint !

TIA
