Special characters in FIND and REPLACE

Post by Alan »

I would like to see the four special characters of left single quote, right single quote, left double quote, and right double quote appear in the drop down menu beside the FIND box or the REPLACE box. I am trying out Ocean Mind 1.1 I downloaded this month. Using hot keys did not put the characters in the box, using Alt + 0146 on the numeric keypad would put a right single quote there but a fat verticle line would be displayed.

Curly quotes are ordinary characters.

>Alt + 0146 on the numeric keypad would put a right single quote there
>but a fat verticle line would be displayed

This means that the system font of your Windows does not have glyphs for the curly quotes.

Special characters in Find/Replace

Post by Alan »

You are correct, the system font MS Sans Serif does not have the special characters.
My problem still remains that my keyboard does not have the four special symbols: left single quote, right single quote, left double quote, and right double quote. When I am entering text I can use the Insert menu Special Symbol or a Hot Key, but neither of these work when doing a Find/Replace. These special symbols do not appear in the list opened by clicking the paragraph symbol next to the Find or the Replace box for searching or replacing text (Ctrl F). How do I enter these symbols when trying to replace text in my document many times? I am editing one document that I scanned in using OCR software and it sometimes places a single left quote instead of double when dialog starts a line and also sometimes deletes both characters when a hyphen followed by a right double quote end the line.
