Language suggestion from the Philippines

Post by ederic »

May I suggest that you add in the language coding our own national language, Filipino, which is based mainly on Tagalog? I noticed that instead of Filipino or Tagalog, Atlantis has English (Philippines). While English is widely used in the Philippines, I'm sure FIlipinos like me would appreciate if we could work with Filipino/ Tagalog text using Atlantis.

Maraming salamat (Thank you very much)! :)

If the Atlantis list of languages on your system does not offer your language, probably your Windows does not support this language. Windows has its own list of languages. Atlantis creates its list of languages using that list of Windows.

Mabuhai! Kumusta ka?

Did you solve your problems with Atlantis and Pilipino? I do not think that there will be a Tagalog-Version of Atlantis 1.0. This language is very difficult for a stupid European. I know it - I have tried to learn it.

Any special reason for this sentence? Besides the hope for a Pilipino-version of Atlantis 1.1?

BTW: Are there any wordprocessor in Tagalog?

No special reason, actually. :)

And there are no word processors in Filipino (or Tagalog) because most of computer-literate Filipinos understand English well.

But despite our proficiency in English, wouldn't it be nice to use a program in our own language? :)

It would be really cute to have a wordprocessor in your language. As you know I am in hope for Atlantis in german since 1.0.

But I can understand the programmer's problem too. There are about 80 millions Pilipinos, but the most are poor, simply heart-breaking poor, and will never be able to buy a pc. And the others are normally very well speaking english. (Ever heard of Robert Asprin?)

Hmmm, i don't know Robert Asprin.
And yes, you are right. Although, access to computers has increased in the past years, it is still in a very disappointing proportion.
May sound like a dumb question, but are you German?

Yes, I am. Never been sure if that is important for me.

Robert Asprin is an american Fantasy-author. As far as I remember he is from the Philipines but wrote in English. Very successfull in the 80s and early 90s.
