Repeating spellcheck key

Post by Edmund Deane »

The need is this: I scan in a page from a book on my Fusitsu ScanSnap 1500. The scan is accurate except a number of the words are 'run-together'. Example: =====
1903 President Theodore Rooseveltsignslegislationcreating the National Wildlife RefugeSys
tem. Initially the system was established to protect birds whose plumage was in great
demand for women's hats. Today the Fish and Wildlife Service manages more than 5CC
areasthroughout the countrywherehabitatsforbirds,marineanimals,fish,and land mam
mals are protected.
=====
I need to separate the words; Your spellchecker is quite adequate to identify them with a red underline. I can choose them one-by-one with the mouse and right click and find the suggestion(s) to be accurate [for 2 word combinations; doesn't suggest for more than 2 words or numbers for the first word, if two, person's names, not in your dictionary, etc] so it will find and suggest for probably 80% on a page. quite adequate.
There are just too many repetitive steps for each correction - find the next run-together; right-click to suggestions; choose the correct one; move to the next one...-quite mouse-intensive.
I am not looking for a better spellcheck. What would be great is a macro or a key-combo or right-mouse option that would let me make a choice (to separate the two words per Atlantis suggestion) and then move forward to the next misspelling (run-together)[akin to "replace & find next"; making it more keyboard-intensive], which would probably speed up corrections about 90%. I have found no other word processor that does as well as yours even offering suggestions - you are the best. As many people/businesses as scan information today, and have this same 'run-together' problem, I am thinking you could sell many more Atlantis programs to the world! :D

Atlantis Word Processor does have a command that "shows next misspelling". You can assign a hot key to this command (it does not have one by default). Here is how to proceed:

1. Choose the "Tools | Hot Keys..." menu command of Atlantis.

2. Choose the "Show next misspelling" command from the "Tools" category.

3. Click in the "New hot key" box, then press any unused key or a combination of keys (for instance, F11 is not used by Atlantis by default).

4. Click "Assign", then click "OK".

After this you could search for potential misspellings and correct them through the keyboard. Just press F11 to highlight the next misspelling. Atlantis would display a menu with suggestions. Choose a suggestion from the menu with the arrow keys, or press Esc and manually correct the misspelling in the document window. Press F11 to highlight another misspelling.
