Can not get Atlantis to transfer properly to laptop

Post by LeftyLucy »

I've been an Atlantis user since 200 or 2001 and this is the first time I've had trouble. I tried to do everything it said to do but I still get the same message - "UNREGISTERED VERSION".

I fired up the old beast again last night to see if I could transfer it again, put it on a flash stick, but still nothing.

Please, I need help. Thanks

Hi,
As I understand things, Atlantis is installed and running normally on your desktop PC, and you want to install it on your laptop too. Right?
Could you please launch Atlantis on your desktop PC, and click “Help | About…”
Does it say “Registered to:” at the bottom of the “About Atlantis” dialog?
If it does not, I suggest you re-register your desktop copy of Atlantis first (click “Help | Enter registration code…”)

Looking again at the “Help | About…” dialog, could you please tell us which version of Atlantis you are running?

And also, which Windows system is installed on your desktop PC, and your laptop?

Now, if your desktop copy of Atlantis is already (properly) registered, how did you go about installing Atlantis on your laptop? Did you use the procedure described at Migrating to a new PC?
HTH.
Cheers,
Robert

Hi Robert and thanks for the reply.

Yes. It says Registered to Jane Ralph.

Looks like 1.6.5.1

My desktop is running Windows XP sp2 and the laptop is Windows 7 Home.

The first time I put Atlantis here, I did not follow the procedure described above. I put several of my programs on a data stick and added them here. Last night I fired up the desktop (which is not something I want to do again, it's complicated) and attempted to follow the instructions, but something went wrong, clearly.

Most likely your problem is due to the fact that you have an obsolete version of Atlantis. The current version is Atlantis 1.6.5.8.
Version 1.6.5.8 of Atlantis introduced a new setup procedure to make Atlantis (more) compatible with the latest Windows systems, in particular with Windows Vista and 7. You’ll find detailed explanations at Atlantis 1.6.5.8 Release Notes.
In short, you need to update your desktop version of Atlantis first (launch it, then click “Check for Updates…, and follow onscreen instructions”).
When this is done, follow the procedure described at Migrating to a new PC to install Atlantis on your Windows7 laptop.

HTH.
Cheers,
Robert

OK, I did everything you suggested and now it is still telling me it's unregistered and it didn't make a shortcut, so I did, but worst of all, it STILL doesn't show up in the list of programs.

I truly don't know what else I can do.

Please choose the "Help | Enter Registration Code..." menu command of your "unregistered" copy of Atlantis, and enter your registration details.

Where do I FIND registration details?

If I had them to begin with I would have done so long ago.
