Footnotes in Epub files.

Post by Victarr »

First off let me say I am VERY happy with Atlantis! It has SO MANY features that should be a part of every word processor.

To the question. I am currently scanning some of my reference books to convert them to Epub format. As they are reference books they have a number of footnotes, so as I get to those I have been numbering them according to chapter and footnote number. ie... 2-4 is chapter 2, footnote 4. On the footnote box I put 2-4 in the "Custom mark" box and click on "Insert." In the finished epub file the footnote looks like this," 2-{4} " with only the 4 being a link to the footnote. On occasion, notably in the Appendix, I get this," {A3-2} " with the entire A3-2 being a link to the footnote. I prefer the whole thing being a link since it gives more area in the e-reader for the fingers of people with large hands such as myself. I have been manually adjusting the code in the finale file to render the whole thing as a link. To my knowledge I am entering every footnote in the same manner, so I am at a loss as to understand why they come out differently. Can you offer any guidance to me so that I can get consistent results?

FYI my documents are scanned to PDF and then converted using OCR software. I then correct misspellings and such and copy the file to Notepad in Windows 7. I then copy and paste in Atlantis for final formatting and editing.

Thank you for any help you may provide. And again, EXCELLENT product!! :o)

I cannot reproduce this behavior. Could you please email a test document to support@AtlantisWordProcessor.com?

Hi,
You can skip the Notepad bit and paste directly into Atlantis using “Ctrl+Alt+Ins” or the corresponding toolbar button.

Alternatively, you can click the Clippy Bank green icon on the toolbar to activate “Clippy Bank collects clipboard data”. If you also use the drop-down attached to this same green icon to switch “Collect Plain Text” on, any text that you copy from your OCR application will automatically be pasted as pure text directly into Atlantis.

Misspellings can be corrected in Atlantis too.

HTH.
Cheers,
Robert

Cool. I will check out the text only paste.

I have only had Atlantis a few days so I am working up to all the spell checking and such, weening myself off of known programs. :o)

Tech support said the link thing was an issue with saving to RTF and then later opening that file. For some reason it reverts my links to only one number being the link instead of the whole label. They are looking into it.

The quick response from them is IMPRESSIVE!!

After installing the beta I went back to all my files and printed several epubs. They all look good now. I now wear the face of a happy, satisfied customer and my heart is lighter knowing that if Karma is an equalizer, she will be preparing a NICE surprise for the tech support dept. :o)

EXCELLENT customer service!!
