Letter Spacing

I've been using the latest versions of Atlantis with ME, Win2k and XP and always get the same weird spacing problem. For instance when I type maxell, it comes out like 2 words ma xell [there is no actual space between the letters, it just spaces the letters like that]. I see no one else is complaining about this but it doesn't happen with any other word processor; is there something I'm missing? I've stopped using Atlantis because of this but I can't find a realistic replacement either.

Which font face, font size, and document zooming factor do you use? (Something like this: Arial, 11pts, 109%).

I use verdana 10, 100%. I never use any other settings. Also, I suffered a misprint in my original post. In maxell, the extra space is after the "m" as in m axell. Wordpad does not do this.

MS WordPad’s onscreen intercharacter spacing is “perfect” in all cases because WordPad is not a WYSIWYG word processor. It does not have the zoom feature as well as its printed output might look very differently in comparing to its screen display.

Some combinations of characters under some font sizes and under some zooming factors might be displayed with a slightly bigger or smaller intercharacter spacing. First, this in no way affects the printed output. Also if this annoys you so much, you could simply switch to a different zooming factor (normally to a larger zooming factor).

Is it possible to turn off the WYSIWYG spacing influence of Atlantis in Draft View (where WYSIWYG is not needed) in order to make the onscreen intercharacter spacing “perfect”? I find the imperfect spacing increasingly distracting as I grow older and more persnickety -- and I was pretty persnickety to start with.

Sorry, but the WYSIWYG spacing cannot be turned off. Please try switching to a larger zooming factor, or apply a larger font size to your document text. This would "improve" the onscreen intercharacter spacing.
