Can anyone help with my text problem please?

Post by bracknell59 »

HI there,

I am new to Atlantis... I'm totally loving it, but there is just one little thing that niggles me and that is I can't seem to save my text font and size so that it remembers it every time I open a new document to start typing... I have tried saving my settings as a template, and when I open the program, sure enough it starts off right but when I start a new paragraph it automatically reverts to what seems to be the default Ariel font and it's really starting to bug me big time! I have tried everything, but with no luck! Just wondered if any of you guys could possibly give me a few pointers to what I quite obviously must be doing wrong please...

Many thanks in advance... Lynda

Hi Lynda,
In Atlantis, unless you have changed the original settings, any new document is automatically created using “Normal.rtf”, the default template. The default font in that template is “Arial” indeed.
If you want to change these default settings, here is what you must do:

1. Click “File | Document Templates…”
2. Select “Normal.rtf” from the list, then press the “Open” button.
3. When “Normal.rtf” is open in Atlantis, click “Format | Style…”
4. In the “Style” dialog, select the “Normal” style if it isn’t already selected, and press the “Modify” button.
5. In the “Edit Style” dialog, make sure that the “Next paragraph style” drop-down option is set to “Normal”.
6. Press the “Font…” button.
7. In the “Font Format” dialog, select the font type and size that suit you.
8. “OK” out of all open dialogs.
9. Press “Ctrl+S” to save the changes made to “Normal.rtf”.
10. Press “Ctrl+W” to close the “Normal.rtf” template.
11. Press “Ctrl+N” to create a new document. It will automatically be based on the “Normal.rtf” template, and it should behave as you expect. Any new paragraph created with the “Enter” key after a paragraph with the “Normal” style will have same font and paragraph characteristics as the ones you defined for the paragraphs of the documents created from the “Normal.rtf” template.
HTH.
Cheers,
Robert
