Hi.
I have a question regarding html output. It seems the output is over saturated with <span> elements to produce paragraph alignment.
This example for paragraph alignment justified:
<p class="p4"><span class="t66">O</span>ne<span class="t9"> </span>heck<span class="t29"> </span>of<span class="t55"> </span>a<span class="t14"> </span>lot<span class="t67"> </span>of<span class="t65"> </span>span<span class="t32">s</span>
The corresponding CSS could be:
.t66{font-size:1em;letter-spacing:-0.9pt}
.t9{font-size:1em;letter-spacing:0.8pt}
.t29{font-size:1em;letter-spacing:-0.2pt}
etc
Surely CSS like say:
.p4 {text-align:justify}
And then <p class="p4"> would achieve the same thing.
Or is there a way of turning this behavior off ?

Hi,
I am not sure what the actual reason might be, but blanket CSS formatting can create unexpected browser displays when it comes to justifying text. Please have a look at the following threads:

HTH.
Cheers,
Robert

The latest beta version of Atlantis Word Processor produces "cleaner" XHTML code with fewer <span> elements in eBooks. Please try it.
Thanks.
I'll give the beta version a go.
Also my apologies. I think it seems the spurious spans derive from the rtf file generated by another application.
However, I would have expected that applying a style would erase any previous formatting styles. If I apply my intended style to the rtf document using MS Word, save as rtf, re-import it to AWP, and save to epub, it's a lot cleaner.
Feature add for AWP ? Clear formatting in rtf.

Atlantis does automatically remove any duplicate formatting from document files on load. No other "cleaning" would be possible.
As I suggested above, please try saving EPUBs with the latest beta version of Atlantis. It is stable and safe to use.
Applying a paragraph style to a paragraph does not always remove all the previous formatting from the paragraph. To "reset" formatting of the selected paragraphs in a document to the defaults from the associated styles, press the following hot keys:
Ctrl+Q (resets the paragraph format)
Ctrl+Space (resets the font format)
