Two minor feature requests

Post by DoctorRob »

I'd like to propose two very minor improvements to Atlantis:

(1) There doesn't seem to be a menu shortcut key for the 'View Documents Side by Side' feature in the View menu.

(2) There doesn't seem to be an easy way to insert a symbol in the 'Find/Replace' dialogue box, as one can a special character.

Many thanks

(1) The "View Side by Side" command is offered under the "Windows" menu. It is a more natural place for this command because this command deals with entire windows, not with components of the active document window.

(2) Sorry, but the edit boxes of the "Find/Replace" dialog of Atlantis cannot offer all the capabilities of the "document editor" of Atlantis (I mean the commands that can be used in the document window of Atlantis when you edit a document). But you can insert the desired character to any document in Atlantis through the "Insert | Symbol..." menu command, then copy/paste it to the "Find/Replace" dialog.

Hi Rob,
You can assign a keyboard shortcut to the “View Side by Side” command in this way:
1. Click “Tools | Hot Keys…”
2. Select “All Commands” as a category.
3. Click in the “Commands” window.
4. Type “v”.
5. Scroll the “Commands” window until you reach “View Side by Side With…”
6. Click in the “New hot key” box.
7. Type any suitable hot key.
8. OK out of the dialog.
HTH.
Cheers,
Robert

Thanks, Robert, and admin. It strikes me that when I open the 'Windows' menu <Alt-W> most other commands are accessible with another keystroke, displayed on the menu item with an underline. 'View Side by Side' seems to be an exception, though: is there a technical reason for this?

Rob :-)

The "View Side By Side With" menu command has a variable caption. It does not have underlined letters indeed.

But you can assign the desired hot key to this command through the "Tools | Hot Keys..." window.
